Starnita "Susie" Southern
Starnita "Susie" Southern, 51, of Manila, died Wednesday, March 24, 2010, at her home after a brave battle with cancer. Ms. Southern was born Sept. 29, 1958, to the late Charlie Ladd and Velma Dover Ladd in Memphis, Tenn. Ms. Southern was of the Pentecostal faith, an LPN at nursing homes in the Buffalo Island area, studied nursing at Cotton Boll Technical, a longtime area resident and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, David Southern of Manila; a son, Dewayne Southern of Manila; a daughter, Lisa Southern of Manila; a brother, George Ladd of Paragould; two sisters, Charlene Franklin of Corpus Christi, Texas, and Charlette Ladd of Rossville, Tenn.; three grandchildren, a nephew, three nieces and a host of other family and friends.
Ms. Southern was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Billy Charles Ladd.
Funeral services were 2 p.m. Friday, March 26, at the Pentecostal Holiness Tabernacle in Manila with Rev. David Fair and Rev. Raymond Britt officiating.
The family received visitors from 6-9 p.m. Thursday, and from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday.
Faith Funeral Service was in charge of arrangements.
