Kimberly Wise celebrated senior night by pouring in a game high 36 points to lead the Lady Lions to a 58-46 win over Rector Friday night, Feb. 12, at Manila. Wise drained five three pointers on the night and was a perfect seven for seven from the free throw line as Manila improved to 18-7 on the year.
Manila held a slim 14-13 lead after the opening quarter and led 32-26 at the half. The Lady Lions took a nine point lead, 46-35, into the final frame.
Carla Kemp scored nine points, Kristen Painter tallied seven, Tiffany Pentecost netted three while Jonna Dodd contributed two. Katie Donner added one point for the Lady Lions, who hit 16-23 foul shots while drilling eight treys on the evening.
Allison Duncan scored 15 points while Chelsea Drope added 11 to lead the Lady Cougars. Rector hit 11-20 free throws and nailed seven treys from beyond the three point arc.
Manila honored its eight senior ballplayers with a special ceremony between the girls game and the boys contest. Manila seniors include Wise, Kemp, Painter, Pentecost, Dodd, Donner, Savannah Jones and Maegan Presson.
The Lady Lions will return to action Thursday night as the number three seed in the 3A-3 District Tournament at Earle. Manila will take on the winner of Tuesday night's game between sixth seeded Harrisburg and seventh seeded Brookland for a trip to next week's regional tournament at Manila.
