Joanne Kathren Johnson
Joanne Kathren Johnson, 59, of Paragould, formerly of Manila, died Thursday, Feb. 4, 2010, at UMAS in Little Rock. Born at Patton, Mo., she was the daughter of the late Marvin Martin and had been a Paragould resident for the past 12 years. Mrs. Johnson was a graduate of Manila High School and Arkansas State University where she earned her masters degree in education. She was a retired teacher and school administrator having served in the South Mississippi County and Greene County school systems.
She is survived by her husband, Mike Johnson of the home; her sons, John Baker and his wife Tonnie of Las Vegas, Nev., and Michael Johnson and his wife Angela of Gosnell; her mother, Marie Martin of Manila; three sisters, Linda Glidewell and her husband Tony of Manila, Donna Ashley and her husband Mike of Monette, and Vickie Skaggs of Manila; and five grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with burial in Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors Sunday from noon until time of service.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked friends to consider Hope Circle at NEA Clinic in Jonesboro.
