Manila's senior boys continued their winning ways with a 66-36 trouncing of Corning Tuesday night, Jan. 5, at Manila in 3A-3 conference play.

Manila (16-2, 8-0 3A-3) jumped to a 20-3 first period lead and held a 39-16 advantage at the half. The Lions took a 59-26 lead into the fourth quarter.

Levi Wallace poured in 20 points while J.J. Helton and Blake Wheeler contributed 17 and 12 points respectively. Jeremy Flannery led Corning with 13 points.

In junior high action, Corning pulled out a 43-41 victory over Manila.

Buffalo Island Central's senior boys picked up a pair of 2A-3 conference victories, running past Marked Tree 60-42 Tuesday night before disposing of Cross County 54-32 Friday night at Cherry Valley.

Daniel Davis poured in 25 points while Ben Cole chipped in 17 more in BIC's win over the Indians. BIC led 13-8 after the first quarter and held a 31-20 lead at the half. The Mustangs took a 45-33 advantage into the fourth period. Richie Tate and Thadias Moore led Marked Tree with 12 and 10 points respectively.

The Mustangs bolted to a 20-5 lead after the opening period and never looked back in their 22 point victory over the Thunderbirds. Brandon Atkeison scored 12 points while Adrian Mondragon added 10 to lead BIC, who improved to 7-11 overall and 3-2 in conference action.

Freshman Brittany Fowler recorded a double-double, scoring 20 points while adding 10 rebounds in leading the Lady Mustangs to a 71-42 thrashing of Marked Tree Tuesday night at the Mustang Athletic Complex in Monette.

BIC held a 15-14 edge after the first period but outscored the Lady Indians 19-5 in the second period to take a commanding 34-18 lead into the dressing room at the half. The Lady Mustangs stretched their advantage to 56-36 after three periods.

Jenna Pike and Holly Dempsey chipped in 16 points apiece, with Dempsey draining four three pointers on the night. Marked Tree's Amelia Stacy led all scorers, pumping in 30 points.

The Lady Mustangs crushed Cross County 54-25 Friday night at Cherry Valley to improve to 15-6 overall and a perfect 5-0 in the 2A-3 conference.

Fowler scored 12 points to lead BIC, who held a 25-4 lead after the opening quarter. The Lady Mustangs led by 30 points at the half, 40-10, and increased their advantage to a whopping 40 point lead, 53-13, after three periods.

In junior high action, BIC powered their way past the Lady Thunderbirds with a 44-13 victory. Emily Owens paced the Lady Mustangs with 13 points.

Riverside split a pair of conference games, losing to NEA Champion East Poinsett County 50-42 in a hard fought contest Tuesday night at Caraway before rebounding Friday night with a 50-46 win over Rector at Lake City.

Cole Winford picked up a double-double in Riverside's victory over Rector, scoring 23 points while grabbing 10 boards. Dewayne Schrader chipped in nine points for the Rebels, who held leads of 18-11 after one quarter, 25-17 at the half and 33-26 entering the final frame.

Zack Burleson led Rector with 15 points while Tyler Kirklin added 11 more.

EPC's Ky Madden pumped in a game high 30 points to lead the Warrior's past Riverside. EPC held a one point lead with 1:00 remaining in the game, but a Riverside turnover and EPC's clutch free throw shooting put the game away. Madden finished the night 10-11 from the foul line, including a perfect eight for eight in the decisive fourth quarter. The Warriors finished 21-27 from the charity stripe on the night.

A.J. Turner chipped in 12 points for EPC, who held a 10-4 lead after the first quarter before taking a 22-16 advantage into halftime. EPC led 38-27 heading into the final frame before Riverside rallied to cut the lead to one point late in the game.

Jake Love led Riverside (6-12, 2-4 2A-3) with 12 points.

In junior high action, Riverside rolled past Rector 58-49 behind Logan Meurer and Braden Peaster who scored 20 and 17 points respectively.

The Lady Rebels improved to 12-8 overall and 4-2 in 2A-3 conference play with a pair of wins last week. Riverside knocked off EPC 59-50 Monday night at Caraway before squeezing by Rector 47-44 Friday night at Lake City.

Riverside got a pair of double-double performances from freshman Lauren Weaver and junior Meagan Goza in the victory over Rector. Weaver scored 19 points while pulling down 12 rebounds while Goza added 11 points and 11 boards. Riverside held a 20-7 lead after the first quarter and took a 29-21 advantage into the dressing room at halftime. The Lady Cougars sliced the lead to 36-34 heading into the fourth quarter.

Chelsea Drope led Rector with 23 points.

Michelle Cobb pumped in 15 points while Weaver and Goza added 13 and 11 points respectively in Riverside's nine point win over EPC. Weaver also picked up another double-double, adding 15 rebounds. Terrika Madden led EPC with 14 points while Brittany Ball and Denisha Madden contributed 10 points apiece.

In junior high action, Riverside suffered a pair of losses, losing 49-34 to EPC before dropping a 36-27 decision to Rector in double overtime.

Teria Young scored a game high 22 points to lead EPC over the Lady Rebels while Lindsey Bennett led Riverside with 11 points.

Kelly Fowler paced Rector with 13 points in the Cougars win over Riverside. Jordan Miller led the Lady Rebels with nine points.

Riverside dropped to 10-8 overall and 1-2 in league play.
