William Darrell Johnson
William Darrell Johnson, 61, of Leachville, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at his home. Born at Manila, he was the son of the late R.V. and Ada Southern Johnson and had been a Manila and Leachville area resident for most of his life. He was a graduate of Manila High School and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He later graduated from the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy and had served on the Manila and Leachville Police Departments. He also owned and operated Darrell Johnson Sales and Overland Transport Company.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Curtis Johnson of the home; two sons, Michael Johnson of Leachville and Tony Johnson and his wife, Molly, of Leachville; two grandchildren, Dustin Johnson and Carson Crews, both of Leachville; four brothers, Hoyt Johnson of Leachville, James Johnson of Mayfield, Ky., R.B. Johnson of West Memphis, and Travis Johnson of Memphis, Tenn.; a sister, Brenda Crawford of West Memphis; and many nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with Rev. Robert White officiating. Burial was in Leachville Cemetery. The family received visitors Friday evening at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Larry Williams, Preston Williams, Monty Sanders, Tony Crowell, Brian Crites and Jackie Hill.
