Blytheville firefighters were called out early this morning for a report of a structure fire on the city's south side, according to a report from the department.

At 4:08 a.m. this morning, firemen were called to 804 Lake Street for a fully involved house fire. When firemen arrived on the scene, they found the structure burning from front to back. Firemen were told the house was vacant with no utilities connected to the structure.

According to the fire department, the house was fully involved in flames and beyond saving, so firemen concentrated on the neighboring homes on each side of the burning structure and protected them from catching on fire also.

The burning structure was a total loss. Upon investigation by authorities, the fire has been ruled as arson and is still under investigation.

Firefighters were on the scene until 6 a.m. this morning.
