Both the Manila boys and girls golf teams qualified for regional tournament play as both squads finished as runner-up in their respective district tournaments held recently.
The Lady Lions finished 11 strokes behind host Piggott, who took home the district title on Sept. 3 at Piggott. The Lady Mohawks fired a winning score of 173, led by medalist Allison Gurley who shot a 51.
Manila came in with a team score of 184, led by Mikayla Shedd's 53. Shedd placed runner-up to Gurley for medalist honors. Brigeette Yancey came home with a 62 while Taylor Bishop fired a 69 to round out the Lady Lion scoring.
Rivercrest finished third with a team total of 197, led by Micalah Beall's team leading 55.
The Lady Lions will begin regional tournament play Thursday morning at Piggott.
Manila's boys finished six strokes behind Brookland, who took home the district title Sept. 9 at the Piggott Country Club. Justin Kidd fired a one under par 71 to win medalist honors for the winning Bearcat squad, who finished with a team score of 232.
The Manila trio of Garrett Scott, J.J. Helton, and Tracey Reinhart put together a 238 team total, with Scott's 77 leading the way. Scott placed runner-up to Kidd for medalist honors. Helton and Reinhart put together rounds of 80 and 81 respectively while Blake Wheeler shot an 88.
Piggott took third place with a 262 team total, led by Hayden McMillan's 82. Rivercrest came in fourth with a 317 team total. Landon Welch paced the Colts with an 89. Tuckerman and Corning finished fifth and sixth respectively, with team scores of 326 and 351.
The Lions will enter regional play Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Sage Meadows in Jonesboro.
