Eleven teams participated in the 2009 Buffalo Island Relay for Life softball tournament raising over $2,300.
Chairman of the annual event, Karan Hill, expressed her appreciation to the volunteers and the teams who participated.
This year's tournament was held in memory of Doyle Crouch and Ocie Marie Bailey.
Ronnie Horner and Sharon McKinney, committee members of the Buffalo Island Relay for Life, greeted everyone at the gate. Admission was by donations.
Five women's teams and six men's teams participated in the double-elimination tournament held on Saturday, Aug. 29 at the Manila ballpark.
Women's teams included Big Butts' Girls; Willyerd's Tree Service; Gamble's Girls; the Corning Girls; and HPS team sponsored by Hills Professional Services.
Gamble's Girls won first place in the tournament going undefeated for the day. Gamble's Girls also were first place in the league play.
Taking second place was Hill's team, HPS.
The men's teams included High Dosage, Dukes, Sugar Daddies, Steele, Adam Donner, and Southworth.
High Dosage, coached by Toby Doke, went undefeated for the tournament defeating the Dukes in the championship game.
