Longtime Manila agri teacher/FFA adviser Dale Poag died on Tuesday night, Aug. 18, from injuries sustained in a farming accident.
According to the Mississippi County Sheriff's report, the emergency call came in at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Chief of Police Jackie Hill and Sgt. Delbert Carter with the Manila Police Department were the first on the scene locating Mr. Poag and his tractor on the levee east of Big Lake approximately one half mile off Highway 18.
Hill said it was apparent Poag had been run over by the tractor and hay baler.
Attempts were made to call for a helicopter but due to the weather helicopters could not fly.
Poag was transported by ambulance to Great River Hospital in Blytheville and later transported to Memphis.
Responding to the call were Manila Police officers, Mississippi County Sheriff's deputies, Dell Fire Department, Mississippi County Ambulance Service, and Pafford Ambulance Service.
