Blytheville firefighters responded to four calls over the weekend according to reports. Sunday at 3:52 a.m., firemen were called to a report of a structure fire at 2325 Birch. When firemen arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed. Firemen extinguished the blaze with the home suffering heavy damage...

Blytheville firefighters responded to four calls over the weekend according to reports.

Sunday at 3:52 a.m., firemen were called to a report of a structure fire at 2325 Birch. When firemen arrived, they found the residence fully engulfed. Firemen extinguished the blaze with the home suffering heavy damage.

The home is owned by Mike Connealy and was being rented by Darlene Lawshea. The home and its contents were valued at $65,000.

After investigation, the fire marshal determined the cause to be arson with the investigation continuing. Firemen were on the scene until 5:39 a.m.

At 9:59 a.m. Sunday, firemen were called to an alarm at 304 East Davis. The call was ruled as a false alarm with no fire reported.

At 12:22 p.m. Sunday, firemen were called to 5041 North Highway 61, Lot 47, for a report of a structure fire. When firemen arrived, they found that a dryer had caught fire in the mobile home and was extinguished with moderate damage. Firemen were on the scene until 12:43 p.m.

At 4:38 a.m. Monday, firemen were called to a report of a vehicle on fire at First and Cherry Streets. The vehicle suffered heavy damage in the blaze, with the cause determined to be a short in the wiring. Firemen were on the scene until 5:01 a.m.
