A Blytheville family is homeless after a fire destroyed their brick home on Wednesday afternoon.
Blytheville firemen were called to 901 South Parkside at 1 p.m. Wednesday, for a report of a structure fire. When firemen arrived, they found the brick home belonging to Darrell Henry fully involved with smoke so thick that you couldn't see down the street.
Henry told fire investigators that he was working on his car in the garage when the fire started. Henry was able to get his wife and five children out of the home unharmed, with just the clothes on their backs.
Firemen report that the home suffered heavy damage along with its contents.
Representatives with the American Red Cross local chapter arrived at the scene and will be providing assistance for the Henry family.
