Blytheville Police are investigating a report of shots fired at a person Monday night.

Monday at 7:30 p.m., Terrence Heard drove to the police station to report that he had gone to visit a friend on Hearn Street, when he saw a man standing down the street that had been shooting around his home a few days ago and to ask him not to shoot around his home.

At that time, the man pulled a gun out and pointed it at Heard. Another man jumped between the two men and told the man it would be OK. Mr. Heard then left the area and was traveling to another friend's house, when he was confronted at Peabody and 21st Street by the man's cousin. The cousin of the first man then pulled out a gun and fired several shots into the vehicle that Mr. Heard was in.

Three shots struck the vehicle but Mr. Heard was able to leave the area and drove straight to the police station.

Monday at 4:25 a.m., police were called to the Family Dollar Store on West Main for a burglary alarm.

Assistant Manager Denita Romero arrived at the store and reported that the only thing wrong she saw was that some plexiglass was kicked out of the front door, but nothing was reported to have been taken.

Rice truck crash proves fatal

A Friday afternoon accident claimed the life of a McDougal, Ark., man according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

Ronald Earl Rigdon, 52, was driving a 2005 Mack Grain Hauler Tractor Trailer truck loaded with rice, southbound on Highway 90 in Clay County, just outside Kennett, when the vehicle left the roadway on the right side and into a ditch.

Rigdon was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.

The accident happened at 1:16 p.m. on Highway 90 east of Holly Island, outside of Kennett, across the Arkansas State line.

C'ville police seek help

CARUTHERSVILLE -- Caruthersville Police are asking for the public's help with information pertaining to a pedestrian accident.

On Thursday, July 16, at approximately 7:15 a.m., officers while on routine patrol noticed Larry Bowmen, who seemed to be in distress, walking at the intersection of West 13th and Schults Avenue.

Officers stopped to check on Bowmen and noticed that he was in need of medical attention, bleeding from both elbows and holding his chest.

Bowmen is known to the police for his frequent visits to the police and fire departments, and also because Bowmen is known to many to be deaf.

Bowmen was able to explain to the officer that a car had hit him at 11th and Carleton Avenue. Bowmen was able to give a description of the car to officers that left the scene of the accident.

Bowmen was later transported by ambulance to the Pemiscot Memorial Hospital in Hayti, for treatment for his injuries as a result of the vehicle striking him and leaving the scene.

The driver of the vehicle that struck Bowmen has not reported this accident to police, and officers are attempting to locate the driver and the vehicle.

Stolen vehicle sought

Caruthersville Police are looking for a stolen car and a missing boy, according to reports from the department.

Sunday at 12:30 p.m., officers were called to 106 East 13th for a report of a stolen vehicle. Tanikia Robinson stated that someone had stolen her 1987 Chevrolet Lumina sometime during the night.

After further investigation, officers believe that the vehicle could possibly be in the Blytheville area. Anyone with any information about the vehicle or the incident is urged to contact the Caruthersville Police Department at 573-333-2121.

Sunday at 5:30 p.m., Renee Bell reported to officers that her eleven year old son was missing and had possibly run away from home.

Officers searched the area where the boy was last seen and used a resource called "a child is missing." This program places phone calls to all land line phones in the Caruthersville area to notify residents of the missing child, and to give a description of the child.

After fifteen minutes of the calls going out, a resident observed the boy across the street and called in to authorities about the child.

Officers responded to the area and located the child, who was then returned to his mother and referred to juvenile authorities.

Sunday at 11 p.m., police responded to 205 Gayoso for a report of a stolen vehicle. Officers spoke with Anessa Robinson, who stated that her 13-year-old son had stolen her car and returned it after joy riding in the vehicle.

Officers took the juvenile into custody and turned him over to Juvenile Authorities. He was later transported to the Juvenile Detention Center in Charleston, Mo.
