Blytheville police are investigating the fourth homicide of 2009, after an employee of the Mississippi County Assessor's Office found a man dead at an abandoned apartment on South Franklin.

The black male's body was unable to be identified, according to Blytheville assistant police chief Marvin Crawford.

Crawford declined to give the cause of death. He said the body has been forwarded to the State Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the official cause of death and assist with identification of the individual.

At 9:30 Wednesday morning an employee with the Mississippi County Accessor's Office found the man, lying in the doorway of the abandoned apartment, located at 1200 South Franklin St., according to Crawford.

"No identification of the person could be made at the time of discovery," he said.

The Blytheville Police Department asks that anyone who may have any information concerning this incident to contact the Criminal Investigation Division of the Blytheville Police Department at 762-0400 or the confidential hotline at 762-cops (2677).
