Jerline McDowell
Jerline Whitehead McDowell, 74, of Manila, died Monday, July 13, 2009, at the South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola. Born at Manila, she was the daughter of the late Jim Whitehead and Blanche Vernor Wilkey, and had been a lifelong area resident. She was a homemaker, was retired from J.T. Parson's Cabinet Company in Osceola, and was of the Pentecostal faith.
Survivors include her husband, R.L. McDowell of Manila; a son, Darrell McDowell of Manila; four daughters, Phyllis Williams of Hyde, Penn., Paula Sneed of Manila, Tina Willyerd of Manila, and Lisa Woods of Senath, Mo.; four brothers, Marvin Whitehead of Blytheville, Jr. Whitehead of Leachville, Charles "Nick" Wilkey of Bradford, and Wendell Wilkey of Jonesboro; seven sisters, Hazel Marie Gamble of Osceola, her twin sister Earline Hicks of Bowling Green, Ky., Mary Kis of Blytheville, Bertha McCormick of Manila, Glenda Johnson of Paragould, Barbara Warren of Dumas, and Linda Brewer of Jonesboro; and 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
The funeral was held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila with Rev. Glenda Johnson officiating. Burial was in the Manila Cemetery. The family received visitors from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers were Rick McDowell, Jason Lopez, Charles Woods, Nick Wilkey, Wendell Wilkey, and Doyle Brewer.
