A brief escape attempt has resulted in more charges being filed against the three men arrested for robbing the Flash Market Convenience Store early Sunday morning.
Donald Jackson Jr., 19, Cassanova Lollis, 19, both of Blytheville, and Deko Lomax, 23, of Osceola, were arrested and charged with the robbery and theft of property.
Additional charges of possession of a controlled substance was also filed against all three men. Lollis had an additional charge of possession of a firearm by certain persons filed against him. All three men appeared before Judge Shannon Langston in Blytheville District Court Monday morning.
After appearing for their arraignment, the men were taken back to the holding cell area beside the courtroom to await transport back to the Mississippi County Jail.
While waiting for transport, Jackson and Lomax slipped into the small inmate bathroom behind the court room. While in the bathroom, they kicked out the window, and jumped onto the roof top, and escaped custody, all while handcuffed and with their feet shackled.
Concerned citizens called in that they witnessed two black males running south on First Street, wearing pink inmate uniforms, shackles, and handcuffs. Several officers responded to the area and located both Lomax and Jackson laying down in the tall brush near the alleyway between Sycamore and Vine, near First Street.
Both Lomax and Jackson were taken back into custody without incident and transported back to the Blytheville Police Department and charged with felony escape and criminal mischief first degree for the damage to the Police Department property.
Both Lomax and Jackson were taken back before Judge Langston again to be arraigned on the new charges.
Langston reissued bonds of $125,000 cash for each.
