Firemen have busy day

Blytheville Firemen have had a busy 24 hours, according to reports from the department.

At 4:13 p.m. Wednesday, firemen were called to a report of a structure fire at 900 McDaniel. Firemen report that the home suffered moderate damage from the blaze. The cause of the fire was ruled to be electrical, with firemen on the scene until 5:01 p.m.

At 11:02 p.m., firemen were called to a fire alarm at 124 Lancaster. When firemen arrived, they found smoke from a grease fire in the kitchen area. Firemen used an exhaust fan to clear the home of smoke with no other damage reported. Firemen were on the scene until 11:17 p.m.

At 1:28 a.m. this morning, firemen were called to a report of a car fire at 2332 West McHaney. Firemen extinguished the blaze with the vehicle suffering moderate damage. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time and is still under investigation. Firemen were on the scene until 2:18 a.m.

Two thefts reported

Two thefts were reported to Blytheville Police on Tuesday, according to reports from the department.

At 6:31 a.m. Tuesday, officers were called to the 1000 block of Illinois, where Joe Jackson reported that someone entered his 2003 Mitsubishi and stole the television radio system while it was parked at his home. The value of the stolen items is believed to be $350.

At 8:29 a.m. Tuesday, police were called to the 1700 block of Sales for a report of a theft. Brenda Holmes told officers that someone broke out the passenger side window of her 1999 Ford Crown Victoria and stole the radio/television system out of the car. The system is valued at $400 and the car window is valued at $100.

Accidents, injuries, arrests

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports injuries in accidents in Dunklin and Pemiscot Counties.

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident Monday at 6 a.m. in Dunklin County on Highway 412, 2 miles south of Kennett, when a 1998 Chevrolet being driven northbound by Charles Grimaldo, 44, of Manila, apparently ran off the right side of the roadway, and overcorrected, running off the left side of the road and overturning. Grimaldo suffered moderate injuries in the accident, and a passenger, Charles Grimaldo Jr., 9, of Manila, suffered minor injuries. Both were taken by ambulance to the Twin Rivers Memorial Hospital in Kennett for treatment.

A Kennett man was injured in a one-vehicle accident at 2:30 p.m. Saturday in Dunklin County on Highway 53, 5 miles south of Qulin, when the 2006 Suzuki Motorcycle he was riding ran off the roadway and overturned. Nathan L. Armstrong, 24, of Kennett, was taken by ambulance to the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center for treatment of his moderate injuries.

Gary L. Hatcher, 51, of Paragould, was arrested by the patrol at 11:30 p.m. Monday in Dunklin County on a felony charge of DWI, consuming alcohol while operating a motor vehicle, and no valid license. Hatcher was taken to the Dunklin County Jail in Kennett and placed on a 24-hour hold.

Gregory S. McElhaney, 39, of Naylor, Mo., was arrested by the patrol in Dunklin County, on a felony warrant out of Ash Flat for insufficient funds. McElhaney is being held in the Butler County Jail with no bond.

Brandy M. McClendon, 32, of Caruthersville, was arrested by the patrol at 4 p.m. Sunday, in Pemiscot County, on charges of driving while intoxicated (drugs), driving while suspended, careless and imprudent driving resulting in a motor vehicle accident. McClendon was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail in Caruthersville, and then released.

Vanessa L. Moore, 36, of Campbell, Mo., was arrested by the patrol at 1:57 a.m. Sunday, in Dunklin County, on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to signal. Moore was charged and released.

Amy M. Watson, 30, of Kennett, was arrested by the patrol at 11:59 p.m. Saturday, in Butler County, on a felony warrant out of Pemiscot County for passing bad checks. Watson was taken to the Butler County Jail where she was being held on bond.

Shonna G. Salinas, 35, of Malden, Mo., was arrested by the patrol at 10:23 p.m. Saturday, in Dunklin County, on charges of driving while intoxicated (drugs), failure to drive on the right half of the roadway, and no seat belt. Salinas was charged and then released to a sober driver.

Ebony A. Ross, 23, of Sikeston, was arrested by the patrol at 5:19 a.m. Saturday, in Dunklin County, on charges of DWI and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Ross was charged and then released.

Jamie L. Fite, 29, of Hayti, was arrested by the patrol at 12:48 a.m. Saturday, in Pemiscot County, on charges of driving while intoxicated and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. Fite was taken to the Pemiscot County Jail in Caruthersville, and placed on a 12-hour hold.
