James Donald Rodgers
James Donald Rodgers, 67, formerly of Black Oak, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2009, at St. Bernards Medical Center. He was born May 20, 1941, in Black Oak to the late Oliver and Anna Mae Rodgers, where he owned and operated Rodgers Enterprise Cotton Gin for most of his life. He was a member of Windover Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Oquilla Gilley Rodgers of Jonesboro; two daughters, Suzann Henry and her husband, Vernon, and Shanon Rush all of Paragould; a stepson, Ronnie Gilley and his wife Kiann of Brookland; his twin sister, LaDon Brown and husband Marvin of Leachville; a granddaughter, Holly Henry and her fiance Chris Rogers of Paragould; step-grandchildren Alex, Caleb, Landon, Logan, Paige and Payton Gilley all of Brookland.
He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Crowell Rodgers.
A celebration of his life was held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at Windover Baptist Church with Rev. Winfred Bridges officiating. Burial was at the Leachville Cemetery under the direction of Gregg Funeral Home of Jonesboro.
Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
