The Mississippi County Sheriffs Department recently arrested five people on drug charges, according to reports.

On Dec. 28, Manila Police received information that Raymond Johnson, 26, and Shelly Malloy, 27, were allegedly in possession of a large number of pseudoephedrine pills inside their residence at the 600 block of North Duncan, Apartment No. 3, in Manila. Officers were aware that Malloy was on probation and went to the home.

While officers spoke with Malloy outside the residence, Johnson came outside and saw the officers, then turned and ran back into the home -- when told to stop by officers -- locking the door behind him. Officers then forced their way inside and found Johnson in the bathroom, where he was searched and found to be in possession of a small baggie of methamphetamine.

When officers searched the residence they found several items used in the manufacture of methamphetamine along with a marijuana cigarette in the same room as the couple's infant child.

Johnson was charged with possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), fleeing, possession of drug paraphernalia with the intent to manufacture, endangering the welfare of a minor and possession of a controlled substance(misdemeanor marijuana).

Malloy is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, possession of drug paraphernalia, endangering the welfare of a child, and possession of a controlled substance (misdemeanor marijuana).
