BIC beats Salem

Jesse Kinard drilled seven three pointers on his way to a 31-point outburst, helping Buffalo Island Central down Salem 58-46 in 2A-3 conference action Tuesday night at Monette.

The Mustangs trailed 18-16 after the first break before fighting back to grab a 29-22 halftime advantage. BIC outscored the Greyhounds 16-10 in the third period to take a 45-32 lead into the final frame. Grady Peel added nine points for the Mustangs while Brayden Carmichael tallied eight points and 11 rebounds. Nathan Brinkley scored seven, Eli Couch had two while Luis Reta chipped in one point. BIC canned 15-22 free throws and knocked down 11 triples. Bryson Love topped Salem with 11 points. The Greyhounds sank 13-19 free throws and hit three treys.

In junior high action, BIC outlasted Salem 39-31. Jaron Burrow led the Mustangs with 15 points while Max McCord scored 12. Parker Anderson delivered six, Nicholas Patterson recorded five while Dawson Stewart added one point.

Matt Guffey topped Salem with 10 points while Dalton Steward added nine.

Lady Greyhounds race past BIC

Three Lady Greyhounds combined for 50 points, lifting Salem to a 58-35 victory over Buffalo Island Central in 2A-3 senior girls basketball action Tuesday night at Monette. Madison Sellars led the way for Salem with 21 points while Jaycie Strong and Amber Yates pitched in 15 and 14 points respectively. The Lady Greyhounds dropped in 9-14 free throws and hit three treys.

Salem led 17-7 after the first break, 29-16 at the half and 44-25 after three periods of play. Lexi Riley topped BIC with 14 points. Haley Milligan scored nine while Hanah Carle, Laci Dewitt, Oliiva Manning and Vicky Esparza all chipped in three points apiece. The Lady Mustangs were 2-4 from the line and canned seven treys, four by Riley.

In the junior high contest, Salem beat BIC 48-40. Greenly Hall and Chelsea Hamilton paced the Lady Greyhounds with 13 points apiece while Marleigh Sellars added 10. Emily Stull paced BIC with 11 points. Krystyn Hawkins scored nine, Kendra Towell contributed seven while Ashtyn Hawkins had six. Hallee Wells dropped in five points while Kaydence Lambert delivered two.

Lady Mustangs stampede Manila

Hoxie galloped past Manila 64-27 in 3A-3 senior girls basketball action Thursday night at Lion Gymnasium. The Lady Mustangs jumped to a 24-14 first period lead and expanded their margin to 42-21 at the half. Hoxie held a commanding 64-23 advantage after three quarters.

Jaelyn Brown pumped in 21 points to pace the Lady Mustangs. Cassidy Clayton delivered 19 points, including five three pointers, while Jaecie Brown added 12. Hoxie sank 9-13 free throws and drilled 11 treys. Sadie McDonald topped Manila with 12 points. Brailey Hampton scored seven while Olivia May and Ella Miller added four points apiece. Manila canned 7-8 foul shots and drained four three pointers.

In the junior high contest, Hoxie slipped past Manila 33-28. Cara Forrester paced the Lady Mustangs with 14 points. Kinley Shelton led the Lady Lions with 14 points. Taylor Perkins scored nine, Ariel Haynes had four while Allie Copeland added one point.
