County awards $200,000 grant to Osceola

By Marcus McClain NEA Town Courier The city of Osceola was the latest to receive funding through the Mississippi County Infrastructure Grant program on June 20. Osceola was presented $200,000 to assist in rehabilitating key parts of the city’s storm drainage system. The project will focus on the eastern section of the city, the oldest portion in the system. Gladys “Jean” Birmingham, 74, of Manila, passed from this life Monday, June 19, 2023, at the Manila Nursing Center. Born in Manila, she was the daughter of the late Wilburn Jerald Ramsey and had been a lifelong area resident. Jean was a 1966 graduate of Manila High School and had been an employee of American Greetings in Osceola and Southworth Products of Manila. She was the former owner operator of Jean’s Sports & Casual Wear, formerly of Manila, and was a member of Community Methodist Church and the Professional Business Women in Manila.
