Berry relocates courthouse bees

With help from the local Blytheville Fire Department, Kendall Berry was able to help relocate a hive of approximately 70,000 bees that had made their home on the Mississippi County Courthouse in Blytheville. Berry ascended a ladder on a fire truck with his tools and containers and within two days was able to capture the bees in question and relocate them to his apiary...

Kids Day is Saturday

The annual Kids Day is set for 1-5 p.m. Saturday in Williams Park. Shannon “Duck” Sims, director of City and County Youth Inc., founded the event many years ago to help supply children with their back-to-school needs and offer a fun event. “I just want our children to be afforded with the opportunity to be successful…and that first starts with their education…how can these children go to school and learn without the basic essentials (paper, pencils, backpacks, etc.) and become successful…they can’t…these children need to BELIEVE that getting an education IS an avenue out of Blytheville…and it first starts within their minds,” Sims stated.. ...

Monette Council OKs moving

Monette City Council met on Monday, July 23, and discussed maintenance, movement of welcome sign, potential hiring of policeman, and preparation for the Monette Night at the Park celebration. Rusty Edmonds was hired to mow along former Highway 18, inside the city, for $300 per mile. Mayor Chub Qualls reported there are 2.1 miles of highway space on both the east and west sides of town to mow.
