Local contractor wants a level playing field

During last week's Code Enforcement meeting, the committee heard from several concerned citizens about various issues within the city. Among those citizens was Mark Sierra of Sierra Group and Associates Construction. Sierra was there to rehash an issue concerning proper certification, workman's compensation and licensures for contractors within the city. Sierra has already discussed the issue with the committee once before and wished to reiterate some of his main points and look for solutions...

Gosnell star football and basketball player Brandon Partee signed a national letter of intent to play basketball at West Kentucky Community College in Paducah. “I went down there for a workout and the team was pretty nice, and it was a pretty nice town to be in. I think it was a better fit for me than the other colleges I went to,” Partee said. “It was really nice but it’s time to get busy with everything and time to grow.”...

Board gives support for Cold War museum

Billy Curl pitched a proposed Alert Facility Cold War museum to the Blytheville City Council’s Parks and Recreation Committee, Monday night. After discussion with Curl over specifics of the museum, which would be housed at the old Eaker Air Force Base, the committee sent a resolution to the full council that was written for them by BGRAA president Barrett Harrison. ...

Fifth suspect arrested in deadly Sales Street shooting

Five suspects have been arrested in connection with Monday night’s deadly shooting on Sales Street that led to two men losing their lives.
