Well, we are in another year, 2015. It is my hope that the new Congress will do much better than the 2014 Congress, a much compassion Congress, and help President Obama continue to move this country to brighter days. There are many believers in America, and they know the way of the Lord, but there are some who don't know the way of the Lord, who is leading the way, and their way is contrary to the law of God...

The beautifully decorated home of Mary Ellen Ziolko was the site of the Ladybug Garden Club's Annual Christmas party and Christmas decoration exchange. Charray Rogers, Cindy Fowler and Kathy Conley were the co-hostesses for the Dec. 10 event. A brunch was served as the women gathered to enjoy the fellowship and festivities of the Christmas season. ...

Lee came to the shelter with his mom and brother and sister -- his mom is definitely not a Beagle, so they must look like dad. One boy is adopted and the girl has an application so we hope Lee will find a home soon. Eighteen dogs were blessed with a trip to Wright Way Rescue where they will have vet care, live in a clean and caring environment until adopted -- mom and six pups from Buckeye, mom and five pups from Blytheville and four pups from Westminster (Terri is still trying to catch the others), and a pregnant Lab mix from Kennett. ...

Helen Hanna Herriman, 89, of Osceola, passed away Sunday, Jan. 18, 2015, in Osceola.

After struggling through the first five games of the conference 3-4A season, the Gosnell Pirates made a huge statement Monday night with a 42-38 win over the defending 4A state champion Brookland Bearcats at the Gosnell Physical Education Building.

For the second game in a row, the Armorel Tigers walked away with a double-digit win over a conference foe. After beating Hughes by 15 points last Friday, the Tigers defeated Ridgefield Christian, 68-45, Monday night.

A Gosnell man was treated at Great River Medical Center last week for stab wounds, after officers with the Gosnell Police Department conducted a traffic stop on his vehicle.
