WYNNE --The Blytheville Chickasaws finished off 2014 in impressive fashion after a 76-66 New Year's Eve win over Hughes in the consolation championship of the Wynne Holiday Hoops Tournament. Behind a 26-point performance from junior center Mahlik Lewis, the Chicks led 17-16 at the end of one period, 36-26 at halftime and 50-42 heading into the fourth period...

The Armorel boys and girls basketball teams travel to Swifton this weekend for the George Kell Classic. The girls will take on Bradford at 1 p.m. Saturday in the opening round, followed by the boys at 2:30 p.m. against McCrory. A win for the girls puts them in the quarterfinals Wednesday against either Flippin or Hoxie. A win for the boys and they'll play Trumann at 5:30 p.m. Monday night...

Mrs. Shirley Bridgers, 67, of Wilson, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at South Mississippi County Regional Medical Center in Osceola.

Takelia Lunetta Ingram, 39, of Osceola, died Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2014, at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences.

William Robert "Bob" Simmons, 81, of Plano, Texas, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014.

Fidelity/Bethlehem Chapter No. 151 Order of Eastern Star recently spread holiday cheer to patients at the Gosnell Nursing Home. The chapter donated socks for the patients there. Members' hearts were touched when one of the patients asked if the socks were hers and could she wear them. The look on her face was priceless. The chapter is service-oriented and members try to help out as much as they can...

Gosnell Cub Scout Pack 95 recently toured Blytheville's Lights of the Delta display. While there, pack members stopped for a photo with Santa Claus.
