GOSNELL--The Gosnell Pirates picked up their first win in the 3-4A conference in convincing fashion, ousting the visiting Highland Rebels, 63-33, Tuesday night at the Gosnell Physical Education Center. Ahead 40-26 at halftime, the Pirates put the defensive clamps on the Rebels in the third period. Gosnell allowed just two points in the period and by the time the fourth period started, they led by 28 and cruised to the victory...

One of the big issues in the months ahead will be what the city of Blytheville will do with its $561,000 parks and recreation fund.

A resident in the Big Lake area is looking for better warnings in beaver-trapping areas after a his dog was killed in a beaver trap. Despite this push, wildlife officers say there are no immediate plans for change.

Though no new information has developed around the project in recent months, the Mississippi County Animal Rescue shelter will be built eventually, according to project organizer Shirley Connealy.
