Mr. Benny Wayne Metheny, 81, of Leachville, passed from this life Wednesday, Oct. 9, 2013, at the Advanced Care Hospital of White County in Searcy.

For the second straight week, Gosnell faces a winless, run-oriented team in conference play on the road Friday night. But even with Trumann's record and defending conference champion Highland looming next week, don't expect the Pirates (4-1, 2-0) to overlook the Wildcats (0-5, 0-2), especially considering how tough Cave City (0-5, 0-2) played them last week. A successful onside kick to start the game swung the momentum in Cave City's favor and the Cavemen scored on a long drive...

The 4A State Boys Golf Tournament was held at Thunder Bayou Wednesday. Arkansas Baptist came away with the overall team championship shooting a 238. Valley View finished second at 240 and Maumelle took third with a 241. The overall championship came down to a playoff after Noah Smith of DeWitt, Logan Solomon of Waldron and Caleb Kubacak of Maumelle were tied at 74 after 18 holes...

The Blytheville Chickasaws take on their rival, the Greene County Tech Golden Eagles, Friday night at Haley Field. The Chicks (1-4, 0-2 5A-East) are coming off a 45-9 home loss to Nettleton last Friday and have lost three in a row. Over that time, Blytheville has scored just two touchdowns and 17 points...
