The Gosnell Pirates begin the 2013 baseball season this week. The Pirates are coming off a 2012 season that saw them reach the 4A regionals for the first time since 2009. Gosnell ended its season losing to Lonoke, the eventual runnerup in the 4A State Tournament. With a lot of his lineup returning, longtime head coach Bret Jackson is using that final game as a stepping stone for this year...

Mr. Charles F. Weaver, 58, of Blytheville, died Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013.

Mr. Detrick Lavette Burton of Memphis, formerly of Blytheville, died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Methodist Healthcare in Memphis.

During a committee meeting last week, Blytheville city attorney Mike Bearden jokingly asked Council members if they planned to solicit bids for a boat dock at "the Blytheville Recreational Lake."
