The Blytheville Planning Commission unanimously approved Dogwood Cottage's cost-cutting adjustments to its Planned Residential Development (PRD), Tuesday night.

The Tuesday night meeting of Gosnell's city council was opened with a moment of silence in honor of the victims of the Sept. 11, 2001, terror attacks. Mayor Don Marshall also issued a public statement of thanks to the police and fire personnel in Gosnell and Blytheville.

The Blytheville Code Enforcement Committee will be regularly adding houses to its condemned property list in an attempt to make demolition more efficient when funds start coming in, according to committee chairman John Musgraves.

A local steering committee of Blytheville officials and leaders will participate in a strategic planning initiative during the week of Sept. 17, and residents are invited to attend a town hall session to voice opinions on local and regional opportunities.

Recently, I wrote a letter to the editor concerning mosquito spraying for the city of Gosnell and the mayor's veto. I would like to note that not once did I write in my letter about the spraying preventing West Nile Virus. I simply wrote in support of the spraying that goes on in the city...

Last Friday's thunderstorms brought with them some cooler temperatures, ending what had been several days of humid, muggy weather. We can hope that last week's heat wave was summer's last stand, and that the days of sizzling summer temperatures are behind us, at least for a few months.

More than 150 Blytheville freshmen students and parents were in attendance for Wednesday night's College Preparatory Academy of the Delta information night.
