Recent reports from the Blytheville Police Department:

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Mills Manley, 59, of Luxora, died of cancer Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at her home.

Mr. Comer Franks, 86, of Blytheville, passed from this life Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Great River Medical Center.

At last Tuesday night's Blytheville City Council meeting, Councilman John Musgraves and Mayor James Sanders both lamented about the poor promotion of the city.

KIPP Blytheville College Preparatory School is now enrolling for the 2012-13 school year. KIPP Blytheville will accept student enrollment in grades 4-7 until May 31.

According to a report from its Chief Operations Officer Chris Raymer, the Mississippi County Hospital System recently received two grants which will be used to upgrade equipment.

"Cars and Cycles Against Cancer" will be held June 8-9 at the Arkansas Aeroplex. All Proceeds go to the American Cancer Society.

Swimming season at the Walker Park pool will begin at noon Saturday, according to new pool manager Tim Yost.

Several local events are planned for this weekend in commemoration of the Memorial Day holiday, which is Monday.
