A Mississippi County jury is expected to begin deliberations Wednesday in the first-degree murder trial of Cordell Wells Jr., 24, of Blytheville. Wells is charged with the death of Wale Adelowo on Nov. 6, 2009.

Mrs. Emma Dee Peterson Smith, 94 of Gosnell, passed from this life Sunday, April 10, 2011, at the Gosnell Nursing Center in Gosnell.

Mrs. Ella Mae Jones, 56, of Blytheville, died Saturday, April 5, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

Mrs. Dorothy Jean Herron, 76, of Cooter, died Monday, April 11, 2011, at River Oaks Care Center in Steele.

Pearlie B. "Sista" Fowler departed this life Thursday, April 7, 2011, at Great River Medical Center in Blytheville.

The Osceola Police Department is searching for a local man who apparently stabbed another man during a fight Saturday night.

Arkansas Gov. Mike Beebe appointed several Blytheville citizens to posts Tuesday, part of a wave of gubernatorial appointments.
