A large crowd was on hand Saturday night at the Gosnell High School Gym for a fundraiser for injured Blytheville police officer Cody Gentry.

Tryouts for the Delta Pride 12-and-under girls fastpitch softball tournament team will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Field 4 at the Blytheville Youth Sportsplex.

By the time humans reach my age, which is by the way older than dirt, we are very conscious of the condition of our teeth. Arkansas State University in Jonesboro has teamed up with the family of Johnny Cash to produce the Johnny Cash Music Festival at the ASU Convocation Center on Aug. 4, with all proceeds going to develop a historical site in Cash's boyhood home of Dyess.

Kevin Goble of Wilson won third place in the 2010 Arkansas Soybean Association Yield Challenge. His contest field harvested 85 bushels per acre. He farms with his father, Lex, and brother, Brian, in the Basset-Joiner area of Mississippi County.
