Ashley DeShae Clay
Ashley DeShae Clay was born on Nov. 12, 1985 in Memphis, Tenn. She was born to the late Reverend Alvin Clay and Elder Omia Clay. She departed this life on Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2024, at the age of 38 in Memphis, Tenn. She confessed hope in Christ at an early age and lived her life celebrating and sharing the love of God. A 2004 graduate of Blytheville High School, she received her associates degree from Arkansas Northeastern College (ANC). She also attended University of Central Arkansas Conway. She worked various jobs including the Blytheville School District, ANC and Walmart.
Ashley was known to always give words of encouragement to those around her even when she was in the midst of difficult times. If anyone needed to know anything about food, a recipe, or the best restaurant, she was the one to go to for answers. Even as a very young child, she would watch the cooking channels before watching cartoons. Besides food and cooking, Ashley enjoyed trying out different crafts including sewing, latch hook rugs, writing, and her latest enjoyment - diamond dot painting. Besides the gift of encouragement, she loved to make others laugh, especially her mom.
Ashley was preceded in death by her father, the Rev. Alvin Clay; her paternal grandparents, Mack and Carrie Clay, and maternal grandparents, Searcy and Ardella Hughes.
She leaves to cherish her memories her mother; three sisters, Dana (Patrick) Conway of California, Kristi Coleman of Tennessee, and Amber Clay of Blytheville; a host of aunts, uncles, brothers, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and each life she touched with her words of wisdom, her uplifting spirit, and her beautiful smile.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at New Jerusalem Christian Fellowship Church, 1215 East St., Blytheville, with Pastor James Jones Jr. officiating. Please uplift the family in prayer as they navigate this new reality that is yet to be real in their hearts, minds and souls.
