Marvin D. Brown, 86, of the Carmi community near Leachville, passed peacefully from this life Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family. Born in the Big Lake Township near Manila to the late W.G. and Nola Mangrum Brown, he was a 1955 graduate of Leachville High School and later attended Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator, a skill that later became a hobby of operating on the citizen band radio frequencies. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing dominoes. Marvin was a retired farmer and a longtime member and deacon at the First Baptist Church in Leachville. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, LaDon Rodgers Brown; one infant son, Steven Rodgers Brown; a grandson, Roger Clifton; one brother, Bill Brown; and a sister, Vivian Wright.

Survivors include one son, Philip Brown (Julie) of Conway; one daughter, Deanna Clifton (Freddie) of Leachville; a sister, Winnie Hill of Paragould; four grandchildren, Kimberly Webb Rhodes (Derek), Bryan Webb, Theresa Clifton McAnally (Rocky), and Chip Clifton; eight great-grandchildren, Keegan Rhodes, Dallen Rhodes, Lleyton Rhodes, Lindsey Honeyman (Travis), Alexis Hill Carter, Alyssa McAnally, Mallory Clifton and Hunter Clifton. He also leaves two great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, July 27, at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Leachville with pastor David Price officiating. Burial will follow in the Leachville Cemetery. The family will receive visitors Saturday from 12:00 noon until service time at the funeral home. Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Rose, Justin Hawkins, Nicholas Cagle, Mike Willyerd, Garry King and Paul Kennett. Honorary pallbearers will include Don Kennett, Ronnie McFarland, Ronnie Kennett and deacons of the First Baptist Church.
