James Robert “Jimmy” Adkisson

James Robert “Jimmy” Adkisson, 78, of the Hickman Community, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.

Jimmy was born in Blytheville to Jack and Opal Henson Adkisson. He was a graduate of the University of Arkansas where he earned his degree in accounting. He spent many years of his working career as a certified public accountant before retiring. Jimmy served his country with honor in the Unites States Army Reserves. Jimmy loved the Lord and was a member of Mary’s Chapel Baptist Church. Jimmy loved music and had many talents of playing several different instruments. He was an avid Elvis fan and loved his “mouser” cats.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Opal.

Jimmy is survived by his aunt, Gloria Adkisson Farr; special cousins, Nancy Webster and Genie Younger; special caregiver, Stacy Cagle; special friends, John L. Welch, Edwin Wallace and Jimmy Cagle; and a host of cousins, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 11, at 3 p.m. in the Cobb Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Welch officiating. Entombment will follow in Dogwood Mausoleum.
