James Sykes Jr.

James Sykes Jr., 51, of Luxora, passed from this life Sunday, June 30, 2024, at his home. James was born Dec. 20, in Osceola to James Sykes Sr. and Willella Taylor-Sykes. At the time of his passing, James worked for Wal-Mart, where his co-workers loved him, and customers asked for him by name. He was a graduate of Rivercrest High School. James was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by one brother and three sisters.

James is survived by one son, Jaylin Sykes of Burlington, Iowa; one daughter, Jani Sykes, also of Burlington, Iowa; three brothers, Carl Minor of Luxora, Larry Taylor of Blytheville and Robert Minor (Patricia) of Fort Worth, Texas; three sisters, Geneva Moor, Shirl Minor and Carlet Babers, all of Osceola; his mother-in-law, Dora Johnson; a very close friend, Betty Dancy; and his best friend, Barbara Johnson.

A memorial service was held in honor of James’s life at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 6, at Wilson Funeral Home, 1323 W. Keiser Ave., Osceola, AR 72370, with minister Jason Cody officiating. All services are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home in Osceola.
