Margaret Wroten McWaters Stovall

Margaret Wroten McWaters Stovall, 79, former longtime resident of Blytheville, died July 2, 2024, at Mercy Hospital in Rogers. Born in Blytheville to the late Baneeta Langston Wroten and the late Cecil Wroten, she was a 1962 graduate of Blytheville High School and a graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta Sorority. Margaret was much loved by all who knew her, and was known for her Southern gentleness and kindness toward everyone. For a number of years, she taught elementary school students at Robinson Elementary and at Burdette Elementary. Margaret was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Blytheville. She was also a member of the DAR and a former member of PEO, Chapter N.

Margaret was preceded in death by her mother, her father, Cecil Wroten, stepfather, C.L. McWaters; her son, Dr. Fred Stovall; a sister, Mame Caldwell; and a brother, Louis McWaters.

Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie Stovall of Bentonville; a son, Adam Stovall and wife Amanda of Charleston, S.C.; a sister, Susie Fussell of Hernando, Miss.; and five grandchildren, Caroline, Jack, Izzy, Kyla Langston and Adalie Rose.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 6, in the First Baptist Church Chapel with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Cobb Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Blytheville Humane Society or a charity of the giver’s choice.
