Terry Joe Carr
Terry Joe Carr, 68, of Manila, passed from this life Sunday, Sept. 13, 2020, near Salem, from injuries received in an automobile accident. Born in Tupelo, Miss., he was the son of the late Billy Joe Carr and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Ed and Avis Robinson Arnold. A 1970 graduate of Booneville High School, Terry was an entrepreneur by nature. He had worked in the finance, mortgage and insurance industries before finding his calling in the restaurant business. He and his late wife, Barbara, had owned and operated TC's Family Restaurant in Manila and B&B's Restaurant in Monette for many years. He was active in his community and was a long time member of the Manila Lions Club where he enjoyed his duties as the Lion Tamer. He was an avid golfer and was passionate about Ole Miss Athletics. Terry was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Manila. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years, Barbara Ruggieri Carr; one brother, Tony Arnold; and a son, Bryan Polston.
Survivors include two sons, Blake Carr of Gosnell and T.J. Carr (Carolyn) of Mathiston, Miss.; two daughters, Lara Lee Winton (Ben) of Birmingham, Ala., and Brooke Dunigan (Tommy) of Black Oak; one sister, Becky McVey of Booneville, Miss. He also leaves eight grandchildren.
Graveside funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, in the Manila Cemetery with Eddie Dunigan officiating. The family will receive visitors Wednesday evening from 5:00-8:00 at the Howard Funeral Service Chapel in Manila. In compliance with the state's directive regarding COVID-19, face masks will be required inside the funeral home and social distancing will be practiced at all times.
