Kimerly Berry, 38, faces several charges after allegedly biting a Blytheville police officer’s hand and kicking him near the groin area, Tuesday, in the 2200 block of Kenwood.

According to the police report, officers were serving multiple warrants when Officer Cade Liles was assaulted. Chief Ross Thompson said Liles is fine.

“Officer Liles and myself went to place restraints on the female,” Officer Lloyd Norman wrote in the report. “She then started yelling pulling away stating she has to pick her kids up. As I placed the restraint on her left hand she grabbed the cuff digging her finger nails into my right fingers and squeezing. After a short altercation the restraints were placed on the female’s wrists.”

Norman wrote that while walking to the patrol unit Berry jerked away from Liles, yelling.

“Once at the patrol unit we instructed the female to calm down and have a seat,” the report said. “The female stated that her warrants were suppose to be petty and admitted to being Kimerly Berry. While Officer Liles was trying to place Berry in his patrol unit she refused. Officer Liles then used a pressure point to try and get Berry to comply. At that time Berry turned her head biting Officer Liles on the hand. I then went around to the other side of the patrol unit to pull the female into the vehicle. While opening the driver side back door I observed the female kick Officer Liles near the groin area. I then grabbed the restraints from the inside of the vehicle pulling her into the vehicle. I then explained the charges to an unknown female in the yard who watched the altercation. She stated that yes she did see Berry kick the officer. Officer Liles transported Berry to the MCSO for booking for Obstruction, Resisting, Assault on an Officer and the warrants.”

According to the report, Norman observed a silver Ford explorer parked in the roadway on Kenwood with a female sitting in the driver seat. After running the tag, he observed that the female owner of the vehicle, Berry, had multiple warrants with Blytheville and Mississippi County.

Norman activated his blue lights and made contact with Berry, who was walking into the yard.

“At that time I explained the reason for the stop,” the report said. “After asking, the female gave me the name Beyonce Williams DOB 7/5/1997 and stated that she was 21 and lived over on W. McHaney. I took her information and checked it through ACIC and did not get any results. I also checked our master name system and did not show any results. The warrant on the owner showed to be Kimerly Berry 11/23/1979. After running that information through ACIC it would not pull up a picture to positively ID this female. I was unable to ID the female and she was instructed she could enter the residence. At that time Officer Liles came to my location to assist with the stop. I informed Officer Liles what I had. Liles informed me that he knew who she was. At that time we attempted to make contact at the residence to confirm the ID on Berry. I was also informed by Officer Zwerlein that the female had a tattoo on both hands. After knocking at the residence Williams opened the door. We explained we needed to ID her because the name she had given us was false.”

Officers then arrested Berry.
