As predicted, Mississippi County tax revenues took another significant drop in April.
County general''s share of the 1-cent sales tax fell from $107,552 in March to $104,081 in April; also down from $135,170 in April of 2014.
The half-cent economic development tax collected $260,378 in April, down from $268,989 in March and $338,018 last April.
Officials at the county and the city of Blytheville have been voicing concern recently that the massive layoffs in Blytheville's steel pipe industry may result in a dip in tax revenues. By early summer this year, approximately 700 people lost their jobs.
