The Blue team made a late charge but the White team stood firm as they escaped with a 93-90 win in The Sun Senior Classic played Sunday in Jonesboro.

The Blue team had Byron Scales of EPC, Daniel Rucker of Marked Tree and Reed Weber of Rector and the White squad had Caleb Waugh of Riverside, A.J. Winningham of Trumann and Nick Bollinger of Buffalo Island Central on the team.

The White squad matched their female counterparts by jumping out to a 23-12 lead after the opening quarter. Scales had four points in the quarter for the Blue and Winningham nailed a three-pointer for the White team.

The Blue offense had the better second quarter but were still trailing 45-40 at the half. Scales again scored four points and Weber canned a three-pointer for his first points in the quarter for the Blue squad. Winningham netted six points to help the White team hold their lead.

The Blue offense stayed hot in the third quarter outscoring the White team 22-13 to take a 62-58 lead after three quarters of play. Rucker tallied six points, Weber canned another three-ball and Scales had a point to help the Blue take the lead. Winningham got inside for a score for the White team.

The final quarter saw the White team go on a 12-0 run to go up by 15 only to have to withstand a late Blue push before posting a 93-90 win. Weber hit his third three of game for the Blue team and Waugh and Winnigham each scored two points to help the White hold on for the win.

Winningham finished with 13 points and Waugh two points for the winning White club. Scales and Weber each netted nine points for the Blue as Rucker finished with seven points.
