Each year, Main Street Blytheville strives to bring new levels of fun and entertainment to Mayfest. This year, organizers are excited about the music groups lined up for the celebration, particularly Southern gospel recording artist Jason Crabb.
Trinity Baptist Church pastor Mike Welch has brought together a variety of groups for the gospel music portion of Mayfest -- a much-anticipated part of the festivities for many, according to Welch. This year, along with a number of area musicians and singers, Mayfest will be headlined by Grammy and Dove Award winning Southern- gospel artist Jason Crabb, of the Crabb Family.
"Everything's looking great and I'm excited about our lineup, especially Jason Crabb," Welch said.
Crabb began performing at age 14 with his family and now, 20 years later, is widely considered "the face" of Southern gospel, having seen a great deal of success as a singer, songwriter, musician, producer and best-selling author, winning multiple awards, including a Grammy and a number of Dove Awards. Crabb has performed at Carnegie Hall and Nashville's Grand Ole Opry, the Rev. Billy Graham's Farewell Crusade and was a regular on the Gaither Homecoming Series.
Crabb will headline the event with local acts Three in One, Extended Grace, The Good News Singers, The Barnett's, Deep River, Neal Song, the Rev. Terrell Rodgers and The Men of Destiny and Michele Green and the Overflow Band.
Mayfest is scheduled for Saturday, May 10, with the gospel music set to begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 4 p.m.
