Manila scored twice in the third inning and held on for a 2-1 victory over rival Rivercrest to complete a two-day sweep of the Colts in 3A-3 conference baseball action Tuesday afternoon at Manila. The Lions rallied Monday afternoon for a come from behind 5-3 win over Rivercrest.

Seth Grissom began Manila's two-run third with a walk and scored on a two-out double to right field by Caleb Reinhart, giving the Lions a 1-0 lead. Zac Riley followed with an RBI single, scoring Reinhart, to push the Lion lead to 2-0.

The Colts answered with a run in the top of the fourth, scoring on a wild pitch to slice the Lion lead in half. Neither team could mount a threat the rest of the way until the top of the seventh when Coy Chitman led off the inning with a pinch hit single for the Colts. One out later, designated hitter Austin Griffin ripped a screaming line drive that appeared headed for the right field corner. But Lion right fielder Jordan Goff ran the ball down and fired a strike to first baseman Brett Sweatman, doubling off Chitman to end the game.

Riley improved to 2-0 with the win. The senior worked the first four innings, allowing just one hit and one unearned run. Riley fanned five and walked a pair. Shawn Scoggins earned the save with three shutout innings.

Goff and Scoggins both added singles for Manila.

Manila fell behind Rivercrest 1-0 after four innings in Monday's contest, but tied things up with an RBI single by Scoggins in the top of the fifth. The Lions tacked on four more runs in the sixth to take a 5-1 lead. Reinhart started the rally with an RBI double, followed by a two-run double off the bat of Goff. Goff added the fourth run of the inning when he scampered home on a Colt error.

Rivercrest rallied in the bottom of the seventh, scoring a pair of runs to cut the Lion advantage to 5-3, and loaded the bases with one out. But the game ended on a 6-4-3 double play, giving Manila the win.

Scoggins evened his record at 2-2, working four innings in relief. The southpaw gave up two earned runs, scattered five hits while walking two and striking out a pair. Riley worked the first three innings, allowing one earned run and no hits. Riley fanned one batter and gave up six walks.

Alex Richard had a single and scored a run while Jay Kulin also scored a run.

McCrory pushed across a run in the top of the seventh inning, breaking a 7-7 tie, and held on for an 8-7 victory over Riverside Tuesday afternoon at Lake City.

Riverside (6-4, 3-4 2A-3) got a 3-4 performance from Matthew Fraser, who also drove in a pair of runs. Luke Baker had a pair of hits and drove in a run.

Cody Webb took the loss in relief, giving up one run in one inning of work. Devon Austin pitched the first six innings for the Rebels, giving up seven runs. Austin fanned eight and walked four.

Riverside began the week with a 12-2 win Monday afternoon over East Poinsett County at Lake City. Kollin Stone got the win, allowing just one hit while striking out 10 Warriors. Stone also had a double and stole three bases. Caden Barrett and Larry Tilley both singled and drove in three runs each.

Buffalo Island Central dropped a 4-2 decision to Marked Tree Monday afternoon at Monette. The Mustangs held a 2-0 lead entering the sixth inning, but saw the Indians rally, scoring three runs in the sixth before adding another run in the seventh to pull out the win.
