Cindy Clements Conner was part of a mission trip in March to work with Greg and Tammy Rainwater in Uganda, Africa. The Rainwaters are former residents and teachers at Riverside.
The focus of the trip was education and Bible study for people in remote areas near Tororro, Uganda.
They discovered a great need for food, clothing, medicine and education. There are many children in need. When Cindy came home and shared pictures and told of the trip, her mother, Sue Clements, became interested. She took the need for clothing to the Caraway Community of Christ and the Caraway Seniors Group.
Ninety beautiful dresses are the result of the efforts of these generous ladies.
"This is an awesome response to needs in a far away land," Conner said. "The little girls of the village will be excited and appreciative to have new dresses."
In addition to the dresses the group will be providing 90 pairs of shorts for the little boys.
Fabric, buttons, and ribbons for the dresses were donated by Phil and Debbie Fletcher of Jonesboro, Susie Pack of Springdale, Cleffie Gipson of Caraway, Joyce Anderson of Lake City and Rita Degges of Jonesboro.
"We are still sewing and taking donations including material, thread and buttons," Gipson said. "Anyone wishing to donate can come by the Caraway Senior Citizens site. For more information on the project or activities at the senior citizen site call Gibson at 482-3348.
