Ice storm across Buffalo Island

Last week's ice storm left residents without power for several days and some longer. It also left trees and limbs down. I am glad to say we did see a lot of caring workers and volunteers out there doing what they could for the people.

Broken poles and power lines down left thousands without power.

Poles had to be replaced and utility workers from several states worked long hours restoring power.

Thank goodness for our utility workers who worked hard to restore power.

City workers in all of the towns were out clearing streets and driveways.

Lake City employees were out helping residents with debris.

Mississippi County Baptist disaster relief unit was in Manila helping residents remove tree limbs on Monday.

Rev. Richard Roberts, blue hat for the Mississippi County Disaster Relif Unit came with a crew to Manila on Monday.

Red Cross set up a feeding station at the Manila Airport Center distributing water and food.

Leachville firemen, first responders, and police department worked keeping generators up and running throughout town.

Gas lines were long on Friday at the open stations but most people were patient and polite as they waited.

Volunteers cooked at Buffalo Island Central West Cafeteria feeding the utility workers giving them a place to warm up and enjoy a hot meal while school was out for the ice storm.
